About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage assigned customer business within a defined marketing area
  • Increase sales and market share of represented brands while earning profit for manufacturers and Acosta
  • Deliver principals' volume, share, merchandising, assortment, pricing, and shelving goals at the lowest possible cost
  • Communicate principals' priorities to sales, technology, marketing, business management, and retail selling teams
  • Report to the General Manager or Team Leader
  • Manage and participate in developing, designing, and presenting Acosta introductions to new principals
  • Build and maintain relationships with principals and customers
  • Coordinate communication between General Managers and key principals
  • Collaborate with Retail Sales Managers on product introductions, selling drives, and contests
  • Coordinate principals' market visits and key account calls
  • Develop conceptual sales presentations aligned with principals' objectives
  • Provide feedback on strategies, selling programs, and initiatives
  • Maintain account distribution information and review market pricing reports
  • Collect and report competitive activity
  • Manage a personal skill development plan and share customer/manufacturer information with team members
  • Follow client procedures and policies and manage promotional plans and fund balances in proprietary systems
  • Monitor financial management activities, including deductions, and take corrective action
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Proven track record in sales; preferably with a food broker or national company
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, presentation, negotiation, and sales skills
  • Ability to analyze sales and marketing information for effective sales presentations
  • Proficiency in software packages supporting the sales function
  • Willingness to travel locally, up to 5%
  • Ability to sit for extended periods, typically 6+ hours per day
  • Ability to use a computer, including keyboard and mouse, for prolonged periods
  • Ability to lift and carry light items, typically 20+ pounds
  • Ability to occasionally reach, bend, or stoop
  • Ability to maintain focus during prolonged desk-based work
  • Ability to follow clear directions
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions consistently throughout the day
