About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead software design, development, and commissioning of PLC/HMI/SCADA systems
Produce technical documentation including system architectures, functional specifications, I/O lists, and test procedures
Develop structured, modular, and well-commented code following company and industry standards
Support FATs, SATs, and on-site commissioning activities
Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and software modifications
Integrate PLC/SCADA with field devices, industrial networks, and higher-level systems such as MES and ERP
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership
Deliver automation solutions across regulated industries
Shape technical design and take technical ownership of varied projects

Requirements

What you’ll need

Strong experience with PLC/HMI/SCADA platforms, with Siemens preferred
Understanding of OT cybersecurity principles aligned to IEC 62443
Good understanding of instrumentation, process engineering principles, and control philosophies
Confident communicator with leadership/mentoring experience
HNC/HND/Degree in Engineering, Automation or related field
Experience in regulated sectors such as water, energy, or process
Right to work in the UK at the time of application and throughout employment
