About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as an emerging individual contributor within a design team
- Expand leadership, guidance, and mentoring skills
- Support scope, schedule, and delivery requirements with leadership guidance
- Build relationships with team members, government and company stakeholders, and program management
- Handle tactical program assignments and strategic initiatives
- Deliver discovery artifacts, sketches, rough prototypes, wireframes, UX flows, and high-fidelity prototypes
- Support development and communication of milestones and deliver within area of expertise
- Partner with Senior Designers and receive mentorship
- Lead competitive analyses and report results to stakeholders
- Contribute to design libraries with visual design and brand artifacts
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to facilitate discussions and articulate goals
- Coach and mentor designers through actionable feedback
- Develop storytelling skills for compelling artifacts and presentations
- Lead human-centered design processes and deliverables
- May lead accessibility tasks, including Section 508 compliance
- Identify risks and communicate mitigation recommendations to leadership
- May develop and manage content for highly visible websites or applications while following design guidelines
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience
- Relevant years of experience may be substituted for education
- Progressive experience with design principles and relevant technologies
- Understanding of interacting roles and how design work impacts business goals
- Experience with design software such as Figma, Miro, Adobe, or other designer tools
- Ability to navigate ambiguous requirements and environments
- Knowledge of typography and hierarchy
- Knowledge of human-centered design processes and applicable standards and regulations
- May lead accessibility tasks, including Section 508 compliance, and have knowledge of emerging accessibility standards
- Ability to identify risks and communicate recommendations to leadership
