About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform payroll functions for the company
- Collect and import hours and earnings files from various systems and sources for weekly and bi-weekly payroll processing
- Process gross-to-net calculations in payroll software
- Audit hours, gross and net payroll expenses against previous pay periods; investigate and explain variances
- Adhere to internal financial controls for SOX compliance
- Apply earnings and deduction codes and appropriate pay rates accurately for employee pay and tax reporting
- Research employee pay questions and correct payroll issues
- Communicate payroll issues and questions with departments and field branches and ensure timely resolution
- Review weekly reports to verify pay rates for new employees and process termination final payments according to state laws
- Maintain confidentiality of payroll information
- Adhere to HIPAA and PHI rules and federal, state and local wage and hour laws
- Communicate payroll expense errors to leadership
- Provide effective customer service to employees and stakeholders
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 2+ years of payroll processing experience
- Payroll-related activities in a multi-state payroll environment
- Strong customer service focus
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing with all levels of staff
- Ability to multi-task under tight deadlines
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Must have ADP experience
- ADP Vantage Experience (Preferred)
- Able to work in a team environment
- Strong attention to detail
- Capable of learning new technology applications
- Knowledge of payroll-related state and federal wage and hour laws
- Must follow federal, state and local wage and hour laws and guidelines
- Adherence to HIPAA laws and PHI rules and guidelines
- Ability to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM CST
