About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Architect and evolve distributed systems powering real-time ad decisions 200 million times daily
Define service boundaries, concurrency models, and runtime optimizations for Go microservices
Scale the platform beyond hundreds of millions of monthly active users
Establish organization-wide streaming standards, schema evolution, and CDC patterns
Process billions of daily API events and aggregate them into the data lake for sub-second querying
Standardize data patterns across DynamoDB, MySQL, Druid, Athena, relational, and analytical data stores
Lead zero-downtime database migrations and deprecations
Architect runtime infrastructure serving predictive models and machine-learning algorithms in the real-time ad-targeting engine
Define architectural patterns for clicks, views, MMP postbacks, and reward-triggering in-app events
Govern the hybrid SNS/SQS and Kafka messaging architecture
Define organization-level SLIs/SLOs and drive alignment through RFCs and ADRs
Sponsor major technical migrations and mentor senior engineers across an international engineering team

Requirements

What you’ll need

7+ years of backend development experience, with deep production Go expertise in distributed environments
Deep experience architecting asynchronous microservice communication using Kafka, SQS/SNS, and Kinesis
Experience with event streaming standards, schema evolution, and CDC patterns
Understanding of database internals and distributed storage trade-offs
Experience with sharding, replication, and disaster recovery across DynamoDB, MySQL, Druid, and Athena
Experience leading zero-downtime database migrations and deprecations
Ability to understand distributed systems trade-offs and applied mathematics
Ability to partner with Data Science teams on predictive models and machine learning infrastructure
Fluent spoken and written English
Experience with RFCs, Architecture Decision Records, SLIs/SLOs, technical migrations, and mentoring senior engineers
Experience with continuous profiling, chaos engineering, Terraform, Kubernetes, or AWS cloud networking
