About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the district as its senior leader
- Grow Retail and Commercial market share
- Lead and inspire the team while helping DIY and Commercial customers succeed
- Grow sales and profitability with integrity
- Achieve or exceed district total sales and profitability goals
- Ensure commercial customer retention and relationship growth
- Select, hire, develop, set goals for, manage performance, coach, engage, and retain General Managers and Core 4 team members
- Ensure proper staffing levels throughout the district
- Ensure execution of inventory and operational standards
- Conduct regular store visits and provide action plans to achieve full market potential
- Teach business acumen by reviewing profit and loss statements with General Managers
- Communicate effectively with stores and support staff
- Embrace diversity and foster a respectful environment
- Assist the region/area with other functions upon request
Requirements
What you’ll need- Knowledge of store operations and processes
- ASE P2 certified or ASE ready equivalent
- Ability to recruit, select, hire and develop quality General Managers and ensure same for Core 4 positions
- Accountability, coaching & feedback skills
- Ability to execute and train all store operational processes, procedures and team member/customer standards
- Ability to use and train testing and diagnostic equipment for DIY services
- Effectively use Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint computer programs
- Working knowledge of automotive systems preferred
- Speak and write English; Spanish is a plus
- Microsoft Word and Excel required; PowerPoint preferred
- Basic math skills, including whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to calculate Gross Margin and understand P&L statements, invoices, and other financial documents
- Ability to understand all facets of the business and excel in an integrated operating model, including DIY, Commercial, PDQ and Hub operations
- Problem-solving and independent issue resolution abilities
- Strategic thinking, issue and option analysis, and change management abilities
- Ability to delegate and supervise projects for timely, quality execution
- Ability to work assorted days, evenings, and weekends as needed
- 3-5 years of experience managing a team of 10-20 General Managers in a fast-paced, dynamic retail environment
- Proven track record meeting sales and gross margin targets in a multi-unit environment
- Successful experience managing profitability; proven financial and business acumen
- High school diploma or GED required
- Bachelor's degree in business or related area preferred
- Must have a valid driver's license
- ASE certification preferred, but not required
- Ability to meet physical demands, including frequent lifting/moving up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting/moving up to 100 pounds
