  • Perform interim physical examinations for healthy patients under nurse protocol
  • Obtain medical histories and review symptoms
  • Perform physical examinations and order diagnostic studies
  • Establish differential diagnoses and treatment plans
  • Assess chronic illness stability, treatment compliance, complications, and need for hospitalization or physician intervention
  • Determine follow-up timing and order appropriate referrals
  • Counsel patients on health promotion and disease prevention
  • Educate patients and families on disease, self-care, and healthy lifestyle choices
  • Assess learning readiness and tailor education to patient needs
  • Design and complete patient and family education programs
  • Maintain accurate records, medication lists, problem lists, and care documentation
  • Document patient and specialist phone calls and visits
  • Accept and handle after-hours calls on a rotating schedule
  • Maintain clinical competence through self-assessment, peer review, education, and annual requirements
  • Supervise and support clinical staff with triage and clinical issues
  • Provide staff feedback, in-services, and clinical education

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master’s from an accredited school of Nursing
  • Certification in related specialty
  • Membership in related organization
  • Nursing experience in a clinical setting
  • Ability to diagnose and treat common acute illnesses and provide prevention, maintenance, and interim physical exam care
  • Ability to perform patient assessments, physical examinations, differential diagnoses, and order diagnostic studies
  • Ability to establish treatment plans, determine follow-up, and order referrals
  • Ability to prescribe within the supervising physician’s practice agreement and comply with state statutes
  • Ability to maintain accurate clinical documentation and medication lists
  • Ability to handle and lift patients and occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to respond to Code alerts and equipment alarms with normal vision and hearing
