About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Complete area-specific work according to standard processes, procedures, and policies
  • Serve as an expert with equipment and technology in the specialized area
  • Troubleshoot technical issues in the specialized area
  • Ensure documents and records are accurate and timely
  • Support communication and coordination with patients and care teams
  • Identify quality-improvement opportunities to ensure safe, effective, and efficient services and patient care
  • Support implementation of operational changes, advancements, and site/system standardization
  • Participate in specialized work teams, committees, and councils
  • Comply with legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards
  • Maintain current knowledge of the specialized field and collaborate with department leadership on best practices
  • Maintain skills and contribute to education of others
  • Contribute to pharmacy department initiatives
  • Accept tasks from other pharmacy teammate roles when workload requires
  • Perform medication preparation, data entry, and related pharmacy technician duties

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Registration/licensure with the state board of pharmacy according to state-of-employment requirements
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (CPhT) or National Health Career Association (ExCPT) certification
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • For technicians in NC with validating technician responsibilities: Associate’s Degree in Pharmacy Technology required
  • Typically 3 years of experience in health care, insurance industry, pharmacy, or medical background
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, and customer service skills
  • Effective verbal communication
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Strong background in medical terminology preferred
  • Organizational skills and analytical ability to prepare and reconcile reports correctly
  • Ability to evaluate and measure customer needs and set clear standards
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Self-discipline and attention to detail
  • Working PC knowledge, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Internet, and general Call Center Systems
  • Ability to perform required physical activities, lift materials, use equipment, and wear appropriate PPE
  • Flexibility to travel between pharmacy locations
