About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the manager using systematic approaches to enhance nursing practice, nursing service administration, and care delivery
  • Assist with interviewing, selecting, and supervising nursing personnel
  • Coordinate communication throughout shifts via staff meetings and huddles
  • Collaborate with the manager to ensure compliance with federal and state laws, healthcare practice requirements, regulations, and policies
  • Round on patients, teammates, and physicians to assess satisfaction, patient care, and department operations
  • Delegate care elements to appropriate healthcare workers within legal and policy parameters
  • Help identify expected outcomes for continuity of care and department operations
  • Evaluate progress toward goals and disseminate information to teammates involved in care or situations
  • Perform nursing care and assist with treatments, therapies, procedures, and medication administration
  • Coordinate patient flow, throughput, and staffing based on volume and acuity needs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current RN licensure in appropriate state
  • BSN required
  • RN candidates for external hire or internal promotion without BSN must be enrolled in a BSN program within 1 year of Hire/Transfer date
  • Must complete the BSN program within 3 years of enrollment
  • BLS required per policy guidelines
  • Appropriate professional certification (either clinical or leadership) required within 1 year of eligibility for professional certification exam
  • Minimum two years nursing experience preferred
  • Previous management experience preferred
  • Must speak and understand English fluently
  • Must be able to lift and support 35 pounds
  • Intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, and touch
  • Finger dexterity
  • Critical thinking and ability to concentrate
  • Additional education, training, certifications, or experience may be required within the department
