About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Position and immobilize patients and select technical factors for CT and/or MRI procedures
  • Perform post-processing of computer data to enhance image information
  • Operate MRI/CT support equipment, including satellite consoles, power injectors, imaging formatters, and laser cameras
  • Transfer patients to and from scanning tables and explain procedures
  • Initiate IVs for contrast media administration according to department policy and universal precautions
  • Obtain and document patient history, including allergy screening
  • Maintain magnetic, radiation, fire, infectious, and universal safety standards
  • Maintain knowledge of emergency, disaster, evacuation, and quench procedures
  • Document equipment malfunctions, preventive maintenance, patient statistics, supplies, billing information, charges, incidents, and patient records
  • Assist with examination scheduling and documentation
  • Attend inservices and educational seminars and share new techniques with technologists
  • Work with students when required
  • Maintain professional relationships with staff, physicians, patients, families, and ancillary departments
  • Provide coverage at both locations when needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 3 years general radiology experience
  • ARRT Registry
  • IDNS License
  • CPR Certification
  • Basic knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and usual CT procedures
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, emergency call-back, and participate in an on-call program
  • Ability to respond to work at short notice and adjust to flexible work hours
  • Ability to operate portable equipment
  • Ability to communicate with patients and demonstrate oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance; use patient-handling equipment with another associate for heavier or unsupported patient lifts
  • Ability to make independent professional decisions using good judgment
  • Ability to provide high-quality patient care and technical competence
  • Ability to function with minimal assistance
  • Ability to attend educational and safety inservices and out-of-town equipment site visits
  • Ability to recognize the needs and behaviors of patients across age groups
  • May be exposed to radiation and hazardous chemicals
