About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide adaptable, high-quality ambulatory nursing care across multiple hospitals and units based on organizational need
  • Float day-to-day or accept six-week float assignments across designated Wisconsin support sites
  • Use the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate patient care
  • Engage patients and families throughout the continuum of care
  • Monitor patient conditions, adjust care plans, mobilize resources, and collaborate with the care team
  • Administer medications, treatments, and therapies safely according to protocols when required
  • Promote a culture of safety and evaluate patient, team, and unit outcomes
  • Participate in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives
  • Communicate effectively, provide feedback, resolve conflicts, collaborate, and delegate appropriately
  • Pursue professional development, complete required education, and maintain certifications
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic health record documentation
  • Float to other units, departments, care areas, or facilities within the designated service area as needed
  • Provide age-appropriate care based on patient status and developmental needs
  • Perform physical safety interventions, including patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, when needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Completion/graduation from a Board of Nursing approved or accredited nursing education program
  • Active registered nurse (RN) multi-state compact and/or single-state license with privileges to practice in the state(s) where services are provided
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Minimum 2 years of Ambulatory RN (Pre- & Post-op) experience required
  • Typically requires 1 year of clinical nursing experience
  • Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking
  • Time management, prioritization, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Proficiency operating computers, email, electronic records, and digital platforms
  • Ability to meet physical requirements, including lifting/supporting 35 pounds and pushing/pulling 30 pounds
  • Ability to perform sliding transfers of 150 pounds with a second person
  • Functional speech, vision, hearing, touch, and fine hand manipulation skills
  • Ability to respond quickly to changes in patient or unit conditions
  • Physical Abilities Testing may be required
