  • Compile, analyze, and disseminate surveillance data
  • Collaborate with leadership and recommend improvements based on data analysis, literature reviews, professional standards, observed practices, and multidisciplinary conferences
  • Advocate for patients, visitors, and healthcare workers throughout the continuum of care
  • Create, implement, and revise infection prevention policies
  • Investigate and follow up on healthcare workers and non-employees exposed to communicable diseases and occupational exposures
  • Investigate and recommend corrective action for healthcare facility construction and moisture management activities
  • Identify unsafe infection control practices and hazards
  • Design, implement, and monitor solutions to system-wide, departmental, or unit problems
  • Serve as a resource for infection prevention issues and participate on committees or subcommittees
  • Collaborate with public health epidemiology, Safety, Emergency, and Infectious Disease Medicine on policy development, investigations, bioterrorism readiness, and community outbreak control measures
  • Work in office and boardroom settings, walk throughout facilities for surveillance, review medical records, update policies, plan educational programs, and use a PC

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must speak and understand English fluently
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or healthcare related field required
  • Current applicable state license as a Registered Nurse required
  • Certification in Infection Control and Prevention (CIC) preferred, and required within 3 years of employment
  • At least 2 years clinical experience as RN, preferably acute care required
  • Ability to identify and research problems
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and problem solve
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills
  • Knowledge of Microbiology, biostatistics, and basic principles of hospital epidemiology preferred
  • Ability to produce epidemiological studies preferred
  • Ability to interpret fundamental bio-statistical information and computer generated materials preferred
  • Ability to work Monday–Friday day shift with occasional off-shift requirements
  • Participation in an on-call rotation for the Navicent area
  • Possible travel/driving to facilities as required
  • Intact sense of sight and hearing required
