About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Coordinate and manage resources needed to provide optimal nursing care
  • Manage staff resources, patient-care supplies, automated patient-care systems, and system issues
  • Maintain productivity through efficient 24-hour staffing, scheduling, and labor-management standards
  • Evaluate quality of patient care using standards of practice, patient outcomes, peer review, incident reports, policies, procedures, equipment, supplies, and products
  • Ensure resources are available for performance-improvement initiatives
  • Develop service strategies and monitor service levels against customer- and patient-satisfaction indicators
  • Coordinate and integrate services with other areas
  • Maintain relationships with patients, families, staff, medical staff, health care facilities, and vendors
  • Act as a liaison between medical and nursing staffs
  • Facilitate evidence-based nursing and support evidence-informed decision-making
  • Participate in shared-governance councils and recommend changes in nursing practice
  • Maintain department compliance with The Joint Commission and other regulatory bodies
  • Develop and communicate change initiatives
  • Achieve care-management, employee-engagement, productivity, and patient-loyalty targets
  • Assist physicians and departments with new-service development, revenue opportunities, and program marketing
  • Conduct interviews, selection, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, employee-concern resolution, corrective actions, terminations, and morale activities
  • Develop and recommend operating and capital budgets and control expenditures
  • Adhere to the Aurora Health Care Code of Ethical Conduct and applicable policies, regulations, and laws
  • Provide age-appropriate care based on patient status and developmental needs
  • Float and flex across multiple sites and departments as operational needs dictate

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of 5 years of RN experience
  • At least 1 year of current inpatient Nurse Manager experience
  • Two or more years of current inpatient Nurse Manager experience strongly preferred
  • Flexible and willing to provide leadership support across multiple sites and departments
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices
  • Certification in specialty within 1 year of eligibility
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Nursing
  • 5 years of nursing experience including experience in multiple areas
  • 1 year of supervisory experience managing staff and budgets in a nursing environment at the supervisory/management level
  • Advanced knowledge of nursing management concepts, clinical practice, and facilities policies and procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to deal with conflict resolution
  • Strong aptitude in human resource management
  • Ability to handle multiple demands simultaneously
  • Sound decision-making and critical-thinking skills
  • Proficient use of computers, software, and other electronic systems
  • Must be willing to float and flex as site and department needs require
  • Must be able to perform frequent sitting, standing, walking, lifting, squatting, bending, reaching above shoulders, and twisting
  • Occasionally able to lift over 50 lbs. with assistance
  • Functional sight and hearing
  • Ability to operate equipment essential to performing job duties
  • Required to use gloves, goggles, and gowns as needed
