About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the care team by performing clinical and administrative tasks vital to patient care
  • Welcome patients and support their transition into care
  • Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and health screenings
  • Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during procedures
  • Administer medications and vaccines as directed
  • Perform specimen collection and point-of-care testing
  • Document care accurately in the electronic health record
  • Partner with physicians, nurses, and teammates to deliver coordinated care
  • Work clinic hours including an evening shift at least once a week and one Saturday or Sunday a month
  • Travel to sister sites in Morton Grove and Lincolnwood to cover absences based on business needs
  • Adhere to regulations and guidelines to ensure patient safety and confidentiality
  • Maintain professionalism and compassion during patient interactions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Must have a medical assistant diploma or 2 years of medical assistant experience, or be a certified MA with 2 years of medical assistant experience, to qualify
  • Strong phlebotomy skills highly preferred
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday
  • Must be able to lift and support 35 pounds
  • Must be able to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present
  • Functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch, with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions
  • Ability to maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines
  • Ability to perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, if needed
  • Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment when exposed to chemical and hazardous waste, blood, body fluids, and communicable disease
  • Ability to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions
  • Physical Abilities Testing may be required
