About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the care team by performing clinical and administrative tasks vital to patient care
  • Welcome patients and support their transition into care
  • Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and health screenings
  • Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during procedures
  • Administer medications and vaccines as directed
  • Perform lab-related tasks including specimen collection and point-of-care testing
  • Document care accurately in the electronic health record
  • Partner with physicians, nurses, and teammates to deliver high-quality, coordinated care
  • Maintain patient safety, confidentiality, professionalism, and compassion
  • Perform other related duties as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • GED or HS Equivalency Diploma
  • LPN: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license issued by the state in which the team member practices
  • LPN: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA), to be obtained within 45 days unless department leader determines it is not required
  • MA: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA), to be obtained within 45 days unless department leader determines it is not required
  • LPN: Advanced training beyond High School including completion of an accredited or approved program in Practical Nursing
  • MA: Completion of an accredited or approved program in Medical Assistant, or 2 years of verifiable full-time experience as a Medical Assistant within the last 5 years
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently
  • Ability to lift and support 35 pounds
  • Ability to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present
  • Functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch; fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures
  • Ability to maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines
  • Ability to perform physical safety interventions and verbal de-escalation if needed
  • Ability to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions
  • Physical Abilities Testing may be required
  • May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste, blood and body fluids, and communicable disease; protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary
