About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Cover Dr. Howse (OB/GYN) primarily and work Monday-Friday, 8-hour shifts between 7:00am and 5:15pm
- Float between the West Allis and Franklin clinics
- Cover other physicians and APCs in the shared OB/GYN practice
- Welcome patients and support their transition into care
- Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and health screenings
- Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during procedures
- Administer medications and vaccines as directed
- Perform specimen collection and point-of-care testing
- Document care accurately in the electronic health record
- Partner with physicians, nurses, and teammates to deliver coordinated care
Requirements
What you’ll need- MA: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 45 days unless department leader has determined it is not required
- LPN license issued by the state in which the team member practices
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 45 days unless department leader has determined it is not required
- GED or HS Equivalency Diploma
- MA: Completion of an accredited or approved program in Medical Assistant, or 2 years of verifiable full-time experience as a Medical Assistant within the last 5 years
- LPN: Advanced training beyond High School including completion of an accredited or approved program in Practical Nursing
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently
- Ability to lift and support 35 pounds
- Ability to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present
- Functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch, with fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures
- Ability to maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines
- Ability to perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation
- Ability to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions
- Physical Abilities Testing may be required
- Protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary when exposed to hazardous waste, blood, body fluids, or communicable disease
