About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the care team by performing clinical and administrative tasks vital to patient care
- Welcome patients and support their transition into care
- Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and health screenings
- Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during procedures
- Administer medications and vaccines as directed
- Perform specimen collection and point-of-care testing
- Document care accurately in the electronic health record
- Partner with physicians, nurses, and teammates to deliver coordinated care
- Travel between OB/GYN sites in Hazel Crest, Orland Park, South Holland, and Frankfort, with possible staffing support at Trinity hub sites
- Maintain patient safety, confidentiality, professionalism, and compassion
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED required
- Medical assistant diploma or 2 years of medical assistant experience, or certified MA with 2 years of medical assistant experience
- Previous experience working in an OB or Women's Health clinic or department
- Ability to work varying start and end times and 8-hour shifts
- Ability to travel to other OB/GYN sites and potentially Trinity hub sites
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently
- Ability to lift and support 35 pounds
- Ability to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person
- Functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch; fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures
- Ability to maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines
- Ability to perform patient restraint and verbal de-escalation if needed
- Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment when exposed to hazardous materials, blood, body fluids, and communicable disease
- Ability to respond quickly to changes in patient or unit conditions
- Physical Abilities Testing may be required
