About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prepare and room patients for examinations by obtaining vital signs and gathering, documenting, and updating health information
- Monitor and complete Clinical Integration and Quality Improvement measures
- Perform laboratory procedures using aseptic technique and infection-control guidelines
- Assist physicians and advanced practice professionals with clinical procedures
- Administer routine medications under physician/APP orders or approved standing orders and protocols
- Follow through on procedure and test requests, care algorithms, appointments, and referrals
- Refer questions to Registered Nurses and physicians/APCs within scope-of-practice guidelines
- Communicate with the healthcare team to ensure smooth clinic flow
- Communicate accurate and timely information to patients
- Perform clinical support tasks such as suture and staple removal, cultures, drug screens, phlebotomy, EKGs, spirometry, Holter monitor application, and prescription refills under supervision
- Provide care appropriate to patients' age-specific needs
- Perform other related duties as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Current Medical Assistant certification from one of the listed organizations: AAMA, NHA, NCCT, AMT, American Allied Health, NHCWA, NAHP, or NRMA
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program
- 1 year of experience preferred
- Ability to perform routine and complex technical skills within the Medical Assistant scope of practice after demonstrated competency
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient computer skills, including keyboarding, Windows navigation, electronic mail, and exposure to electronic medical records systems
- Customer service skills supporting a positive patient experience
- Ability to provide age-appropriate patient care
- Ability to lift 35 pounds without assistance
- Functional speech, vision, hearing, touch, and fine-hand manipulation skills
- Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job
