About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as an assistive resource for the medical physics team in simulation, treatment planning, treatment delivery, routine quality assurance, and patient-specific QA
  • Assist with commissioning and acceptance testing tasks
  • Assist medical physicists with problem solving, troubleshooting, and maintenance for simulation, treatment planning, and treatment delivery equipment
  • Perform and record quality assurance procedures on time
  • Maintain and use dosimetry equipment including ionization chambers, arrays, OSLDs, and water tanks
  • Ensure up-to-date calibrations on survey and dosimetry equipment
  • Participate in data entry and submission of dosimetry data for clinical trials and registries
  • Perform data analysis for clinical process improvement and clinical research projects
  • Assist with physics projects, policy and procedure development, and continuous quality improvement
  • Assist medical physicists with teaching and training staff on new modalities
  • Travel regionally to various network centers to perform responsibilities
  • Adhere to radiation safety protocols and policies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Physics, Physics, Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Radiation Therapy, or related field
  • Proficient use of MS Excel and Word
  • Experience with coding and/or programming highly desired
  • Desired, but not required, experience supporting radiation oncology or medical physics services
  • Familiarity with radiation therapy equipment and QA procedures desired
  • Experience with healthcare information systems beneficial
  • Ability to work effectively in a clinical team environment beneficial
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull in excess of 100 lbs
  • Frequent walking, standing, stooping, and reaching
  • Manual dexterity and heavy concentration with computers
  • Ability to maintain accurate, timely documentation
  • Ability to travel regionally to various centers in the network
  • Adherence to radiation safety protocols and policies
  • Maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Advocate Health policies and local standards
