About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist physicians/clinicians in documenting patient visits via the electronic medical record
  • Perform related clerical duties to improve physician/clinician effectiveness, efficiency, productivity, patient flow, and satisfaction
  • Communicate the scribe role clearly to patients and support their experience and comfort
  • Assemble patient charts and retrieve external records before visits
  • Gather test results and prepare for patient visits
  • Accompany clinicians during exams and transcribe visits into the EHR using precise medical terminology
  • Pend labs, imaging, medications, and referrals with appropriate diagnoses for clinician approval
  • Update patient histories and enter follow-up instructions
  • Submit final records for physician sign-off
  • Measure vital signs and room patients
  • Assist with non-sterile procedures as needed
  • Provide coverage/support within Cardiology at St. Luke’s as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Medical terminology proficiency
  • Ability to document patient visits accurately in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Ability to pend labs, imaging, medications, and referrals with appropriate diagnoses for clinician approval
  • Ability to update patient histories, enter follow-up instructions, and submit final records for physician sign-off
  • Ability to measure vital signs, room patients, and assist with non-sterile procedures as needed
  • Functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch
  • Fine-hand manipulation skills
  • Ability to occasionally lift/carry up to 20 lbs.
  • Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment as needed
  • Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job
  • Ability to travel to the Kenosha clinic approximately once per month
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday, between 7 am and 5 pm
