About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist RN with daily patient care, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders, ambulation, positioning, range of motion, and transfers
- Measure and document blood pressures, temperature, pulse, respiration, intake/output, daily weights, and other patient data in the EMR
- Perform purposeful rounding under RN direction and communicate patient/family observations, concerns, and needs
- Participate in patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes
- Maintain call-light responsiveness and ensure patient safety
- Collect urine, stool, and sputum specimens and perform point-of-care testing as indicated
- Complete errands including delivery of trays, charts, specimens, and reports
- Maintain nursing-area stock and clean equipment and work areas
- Perform patient positioning and transporting duties using proper techniques and assistive devices
- Support patient nutritional needs, including diet review, tray setup/removal, positioning, and diet selection
- Maintain skin integrity through repositioning and skin care
- Provide and maintain special patient supplies and appliances
- Remove IVs, provide post-mortem care, and perform bladder scans when required by site/unit
- Follow infection-prevention policies, including hand hygiene and sterile/aseptic procedures
- Provide age-appropriate patient care according to department policies and procedures
Requirements
What you’ll need- Active CNA/Nurse Aide in good standing with the State Registry in which the team member practices
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 45 days
- Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED), or High School Graduate
- Basic computer skills
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to set priorities
- Must be able to travel to Baptist, Alleghany Health, Hugh Chatham, and Wilkes facilities
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist
- Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. over the head
- Must be able to carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance
- Must be able to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force
- Must be able to perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present
- Must have functional vision and hearing
- Must be able to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job
