About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide efficient, effective, quality customer service and practice support through scheduling, coding, registration, and billing
- Collect payment at the time of service and enter accurate, up-to-date billing information into the patient accounting system
- Assist clinical staff in maintaining accurate medical records
- Serve patients arriving for appointments or contacting the clinic by telephone or in person
- Provide information about appointments, tests and procedures, bills and charges, referrals, and other matters
- Enter patient and payer billing information at the time of service
- Follow up accurately on missing billing information
- Uphold practice and medical group standards for accurate and timely medical records
- Support providers and connect with patients as part of the ambulatory care team
- Work 20 hours per week with varying Monday-Friday hours between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
- Verify patient information thoroughly during check-in in a high-volume pediatric subspecialty clinic
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or equivalent
- One to two years related customer service experience
- Experience handling difficult callers/customers/patients
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to function in a high-volume, multiple-task environment
- Ability to work in a crowded or closely shared workspace
- Ability to work under stressful conditions with demanding customers
- Must lift up to 35 pounds without help
- Exposure to ill patients
- For patient lifts over 35 pounds, or when the patient cannot assist, patient-handling equipment is expected to be used with at least one other associate when available
