About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Plan and perform charge capture reviews in accordance with proper billing practices
  • Collaborate with internal and external customers on billing and coding functions to determine billing accuracy and optimize revenue capture
  • Develop written reports documenting review findings and recommendations
  • Maintain current knowledge of coding, charge capture, accounting, and billing compliance developments in healthcare
  • Serve as a resource on coding and billing guidelines and regulatory standards
  • Recommend policies, procedures, and strategies to streamline workflows and meet organizational objectives
  • Document and review collected data, identifying billing, coding, and documentation errors
  • Review HCPCS and coding updates
  • Review clinical documentation for accurate CPT/HCPCS code assignment and reimbursement
  • Develop and coordinate educational and training programs for departmental staff
  • Verify the validity of data and reports and follow system policies and procedures
  • Ensure critical corrective actions are taken and evaluate intervention efficiency
  • Prepare management reports, spreadsheets, and executive summaries
  • Plan review scope and communicate plans with leadership
  • Perform other related duties as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Pharmacy Technician registration with Georgia state board of pharmacy per state of employment requirements
  • PTCB or ExCPT certification
  • College degree or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience required
  • Typically two years’ experience with or exposure to relevant billing systems, such as EPIC/Encompass
  • Highly effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Customer service, problem resolution, and process development skills
  • Leadership skills including delegation, team building, managing multiple priorities, problem solving, and decision making
  • Knowledge of pharmacy standards, policies, procedures, and HIPAA regulations
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, take initiative, and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Detail-oriented and able to handle multiple demands simultaneously
  • Basic math skills
  • Strong background in medical terminology preferred
  • Organizational and analytical skills to prepare and reconcile reports correctly
  • Computer skills with Microsoft Office, email, internet access, electronic pharmacy management systems, and pharmacy ordering and inventory systems
  • Life support training courses may be required at department discretion
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, bend, kneel, climb, twist, crawl, reach above shoulders, and stand for the majority of the workday
  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs. from floor to overhead and up to 40 lbs. from floor to waist
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. at waist height
  • Ability to push/pull with 20 lbs. of force
  • Flexibility to travel between pharmacy locations
  • Functional vision, touch, and hearing
  • Ability to communicate effectively and perform writing, typing, and computer data entry
