  • Collect specimens according to age-specific guidelines
  • Maintain inventory and monitor supply expiration dates
  • Enter lab orders into the LIS and print, deliver, and file reports
  • Prepare requisitions and enter or obtain information in laboratory or hospital computer systems
  • Process specimens according to laboratory policies
  • Perform waived testing when applicable
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • One year of phlebotomy experience preferred (not required)
  • Ability to accurately collect, identify, process, and deliver blood specimens
  • Knowledge of phlebotomy, safety, identification, and specimen-handling procedures
  • Ability to perform clerical functions using laboratory or hospital computer systems
  • Ability to perform waived testing
  • Ability to follow infection-control policies and procedures
  • Ability to provide age-appropriate specimen collection
