About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Use the nursing process to assess patient needs, plan and implement individualized interventions, and evaluate care effectiveness
- Include patients and families in care planning and maintain therapeutic relationships throughout the healthcare continuum
- Assess patients continuously, recognize significant changes, and take appropriate action
- Adjust plans of care, mobilize resources, and collaborate with healthcare team members to coordinate patient-centered care
- Implement strategies to reduce risk and increase patient safety
- Assess patient and family readiness to learn and individualize education approaches
- Coordinate discharge planning using an interdisciplinary approach
- Apply evidence-based practice and nursing and regulatory standards of care
- Evaluate patient, team, and unit outcomes and support shared governance and process improvement initiatives
- Communicate effectively, provide feedback, resolve conflicts, promote collaboration, and delegate to unlicensed personnel
- Identify patient safety threats, report safety events and near misses, and assist with corrective actions
- Apply ethical decision-making and participate as an effective member of the patient care team
- Participate in professional development, mentoring, required meetings, educational programs, and annual competencies
- Perform other related duties as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Completion of an accredited or approved program in Nursing
- Typically requires 1 year of experience in clinical nursing
- Knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate patient care across the lifespan
- Proficient computer skills, electronic mail, and electronic medical records systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication, listening, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop rapport and maintain positive professional relationships
- Ability to take initiative and work collaboratively
- Ability to make critical, independent decisions
- Organization, prioritization, problem-solving, time management, multitasking, coordination, delegation, and team-building skills
- Maintain annual educational requirements for hospital-based certifications
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance
- Ability to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person
- Functional speech, vision, hearing, touch, and fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures
- Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job
- Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment when exposed to chemical and hazardous waste, blood and body fluids, and communicable disease
