About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as an Internal Pool teammate covering Emergency needs at Union, Union West, Waxhaw, and Anson
- Work 3 x 12-hour shifts per week, 7 a.m.–7 p.m., including every other weekend
- Float to Atrium Health Union, Union West, Waxhaw ED, Anson, and potentially other units, departments, care areas, or facilities within the designated service area
- Engage in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives
- Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care
- Engage patients and families throughout the continuum of care
- Monitor patient conditions, adjust care plans, mobilize resources, and collaborate with the care team
- Promote a culture of safety
- Evaluate patient, team, and unit outcomes and take action as needed
- Administer medications, treatments, and therapies safely according to clinical protocols and procedures
- Communicate effectively, provide feedback, resolve conflicts, foster collaboration, and delegate appropriately
- Pursue professional development, complete required education, and maintain certifications
- Practice according to the ANA Code of Ethics and contribute to integrated, unbiased patient care
- Delegate appropriately to Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and unlicensed assistive personnel
- Maintain accurate and timely EHR documentation
- Provide age-appropriate patient care based on assessment and department policies and procedures
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Active, unrestricted registered nurse (RN) multi-state compact and/or single-state license with privileges to practice in the state(s) where providing client nursing services
- Typically requires 1 year of experience in clinical nursing
- Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking
- Time management, prioritization, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Proficiency in computer functions, including email, electronic records, and digital platforms
- Must be able to perform specified physical activities and lift/support 35 pounds
- Must be able to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person
- Functional speech, vision, hearing, touch, and fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures
- Ability to perform physical safety interventions and verbal de-escalation if needed
- Ability to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions
- Physical Abilities Testing may be required
- Must be willing to float to Atrium Health Union, Union West, Waxhaw ED, and Anson
- Emergency room experience preferred
- Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
