About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Engage in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives
- Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care
- Engage patients and families throughout the continuum of care
- Monitor patient conditions, adjust care plans, mobilize resources, and collaborate with the care team
- Uphold and promote a culture of safety
- Evaluate patient, team, and unit outcomes and take action as needed
- Administer medications, treatments, and therapies safely according to clinical protocols when required
- Provide effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution
- Delegate appropriately to Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and unlicensed assistive personnel
- Maintain accurate and timely EHR documentation
- Float to other units, departments, care areas, or facilities within the designated service area when required
- Provide age-appropriate care based on patient status and developmental needs
- Pursue professional development, complete required education, and maintain certifications
- Practice according to the ANA Code of Ethics and contribute to integrated, unbiased patient care
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Active, unrestricted registered nurse (RN) multi-state compact and/or single-state license with privileges to practice in the state(s) where nursing services are provided
- Licensed nurses practicing via telehealth/telenursing/virtual modalities must be licensed or hold practice privileges in the state(s) where clients are located
- Three years of Med Surg Telemetry experience and/or one year of Progressive Care or Intensive Care experience preferred
- Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking
- Time management, prioritization, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Proficiency operating computer functions, including email, electronic records, and digital platforms
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently
- Ability to lift and support 35 pounds
- Ability to push/pull with 30 pounds of force and perform a 150-pound sliding transfer with a second person
- Functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch, with fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures
- Ability to perform physical safety interventions and verbal de-escalation if needed
- Ability to respond quickly to changes in patient or unit conditions
- Physical Abilities Testing may be required
- Additional department-specific physical requirements may apply
- BSN preferred
