About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide adaptable, high-quality emergency department nursing care across multiple hospitals and units based on organizational need
- Engage in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives
- Apply evidence-based practices to improve care processes
- Use the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care
- Engage patients and families throughout the continuum of care
- Monitor patient conditions and adjust care plans
- Mobilize resources and collaborate with the care team to influence outcomes
- Uphold and promote a culture of safety
- Evaluate patient, team, and unit outcomes and take action as needed
- Administer medications, treatments, and therapies safely according to protocols and procedures
- Provide communication, feedback, conflict resolution, team collaboration, and delegation
- Pursue professional development, complete required education, and maintain certifications
- Practice according to the ANA Code of Ethics and contribute to integrated, unbiased patient care
- Delegate appropriately to RNs, LPNs, and unlicensed assistive personnel
- Maintain accurate and timely EHR documentation
- Float to other units, departments, care areas, or facilities within the designated service area as needed
- Provide age-appropriate care based on patient status and developmental needs
Requirements
What you’ll need- Completion of an accredited or approved nursing program
- Graduate of a Board of Nursing-approved nursing education program
- Active registered nurse (RN) multi-state compact and/or single-state license with privileges to practice in the state(s) where services are provided
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience required for this posting
- Typically requires 1 year of clinical nursing experience
- Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking
- Time management, prioritization, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Proficiency operating computer functions, electronic records, email, and digital platforms
- Ability to work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday weekend program schedule
- Ability to work night shifts from 1900-0730
- Ability to float across designated hospitals, units, departments, care areas, or facilities
- Ability to perform required physical duties, including lifting and supporting 35 pounds
- Ability to push/pull 30 pounds of force and perform a 150-pound sliding transfer with a second person
- Functional speech, vision, hearing, touch, and fine hand manipulation skills
- Ability to perform physical safety interventions and verbal de-escalation
- Ability to respond quickly to changes in patient or unit conditions
- Physical Abilities Testing may be required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
