About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide adaptable, high-quality Medical Surgical nursing care across multiple hospitals and units in Wisconsin
  • Float day-to-day or accept six-week float assignments based on organizational need
  • Work self-scheduled night shifts from 1900–0730 in 12-hour shifts
  • Assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care
  • Engage patients and families throughout the continuum of care
  • Monitor patient conditions, adjust care plans, mobilize resources, and collaborate with the care team
  • Administer medications, treatments, and therapies safely according to protocols
  • Promote a culture of safety and evaluate patient, team, and unit outcomes
  • Participate in unit councils, professional governance, quality initiatives, and evidence-based practice
  • Communicate effectively, provide feedback, resolve conflicts, collaborate, and delegate appropriately
  • Maintain professional development, required education, and certifications
  • Maintain accurate and timely EHR documentation
  • Float to other units, departments, care areas, or facilities within the designated service area
  • Provide age-appropriate care based on patient needs and developmental principles
  • Adhere to the ANA Code of Ethics and contribute to integrated, unbiased patient care

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Completion of an accredited or approved nursing program
  • Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program
  • Active registered nurse (RN) multi-state compact and/or single-state license with privileges to practice in the state(s) where services are provided
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical RN experience required for the schedule
  • Typically requires 1 year of clinical nursing experience
  • Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking
  • Time management, prioritization, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Proficiency operating computer functions, electronic records, and digital platforms
  • Ability to lift and support 35 pounds
  • Ability to push/pull with 30 pounds of force and perform a 150-pound sliding transfer with a second person
  • Functional speech, vision, hearing, touch, and fine hand manipulation skills
  • Ability to perform physical safety interventions and respond quickly to changing patient or unit conditions
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and float across designated facilities
  • Physical Abilities Testing may be required
