About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assess claimants' education, training, and work experiences
- Identify vocational assets, alternate occupations, and worksite or duty modifications to prevent or minimize disability claims
- Develop and implement comprehensive reemployment and vocational rehabilitation plans
- Collaborate with employers to retain or return employees to work
- Initiate claim prevention, intervention, and return-to-work programs for employers
- Develop, document, and implement cost-effective return-to-work or retraining plans addressing medical, vocational, and psychosocial components
- Communicate with claimants, employers, medical treatment providers, outside rehabilitation counselors, and other carriers
- Motivate claimants and employers to participate in light-duty or rehabilitation programs
- Manage a nationwide network of vocational rehabilitation providers
- Ensure cost containment and effective utilization of vendors and accommodation expenses
- Perform vocational assessments and maintain communication with case managers, providers, clinicians, and employers
- Evaluate restrictions, limitations, functional abilities, and vocational data to assess alternative work options and employability
- Support an ergonomic stay-at-work program
- Conduct vocational rehabilitation case advisement for LTD and applicable STD claims
- Partner with STD and LTD claim managers and clinicians on return-to-work opportunities
- Serve as a subject matter expert to claim staff on ADAAA accommodations
- Perform other related duties as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- LTD Claims Analyst experience
- Windows and vocational software proficiency
- Strong communication skills
- Organization and time management skills
- Bachelor's Degree in healthcare or a related field
- Master's Degree in Vocational Rehabilitation
- Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC)
- 3-5 years of vocational rehab work experience
- Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted
- Travel less than or equal to 25%
- Preferred: 2+ years of LTD/STD experience as a rehabilitation consultant
- Preferred: Certification in ergonomic assessment
- Preferred: CDMS, CCM, or CVE Specialist certification
