About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Set and own the research agenda across multiple AfterShip product areas and systems
- Identify, prioritize, lead, and execute research informing company-wide product strategy
- Define, design, execute, and socialize qualitative and quantitative research studies
- Build understanding of merchants, shoppers, and their post-purchase experiences worldwide
- Partner with Product, Design, Data Science, Engineering, and Product Marketing teams
- Translate research findings into product and business perspectives
- Align Directors, VPs, and other cross-functional leadership on strategic questions
- Mentor researchers and establish repeatable research practices
- Identify best practices in existing and emerging research methodologies
- Proactively identify new user and business opportunities
- Report to the Manager of User Research
Requirements
What you’ll need- 8+ years of applied UX/user research experience, including leading research across multiple product areas or a business domain
- Proven ability to lead research strategy and roadmap independently
- Deep expertise across qualitative and quantitative research methods
- Ability to set research quality standards for others
- Track record of influencing at the executive level and aligning leadership on strategic questions
- Strong synthesis and storytelling skills, evidenced by a portfolio or work samples
- Experience mentoring researchers and elevating a team’s craft
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Design, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience
- Ability to thrive with full autonomy in a remote-first, distributed organization
- SaaS and/or e-commerce experience is a plus
- Mandarin proficiency is strongly preferred
