About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage and oversee the operation of laboratories across Afya units nationwide
- Coordinate laboratory operations across multiple locations, ensuring the availability of necessary equipment, materials, supplies, and infrastructure
- Implement and monitor preventive and corrective maintenance routines for laboratory equipment
- Supervise laboratory use and compliance with biosafety, occupational safety, and applicable regulations
- Promote innovation in practical education, including new technologies, active learning methodologies, and educational resources
- Work with program coordinators, faculty, and academic leaders to align laboratories with curricular, research, and outreach needs
- Provide technical leadership to laboratory teams, promoting training and professional development
- Establish, monitor, and analyze KPIs related to operational efficiency, utilization, maintenance, safety, quality, and the academic experience
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies and regulations issued by the Brazilian Ministry of Education (MEC), professional councils, and other applicable legislation
- Monitor regulatory changes and industry trends, updating policies, procedures, and operating standards
- Lead laboratory standardization, modernization, and expansion initiatives
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science, Biology, Pharmacy, Veterinary Medicine, Nursing, or a related healthcare field
- Graduate specialization in Clinical Analysis, Laboratory Management, Health Education, Process Management, or a related field is preferred
- Strong experience managing and operating teaching, research, or clinical laboratories
- Knowledge of biosafety, supply control, laboratory equipment, and applicable regulatory standards
- Experience organizing laboratory practical sessions and supporting academic activities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and management systems
- Ability to plan, organize, and manage processes
- Ability to handle multiple demands and stakeholders
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative approach
- Analytical, proactive, quality-oriented, and committed to continuous improvement
