About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Drive material availability for site production
- Lead supplier relationships
- Guide the roll-out of new project innovation while minimising write-off costs
- Manage weekly MRP messages and outputs
- Ensure purchase orders are placed, confirmations are logged, and raw materials arrive on time for production schedules
- Act as the key contact for suppliers and internal teams
- Maintain clear communication across the supply chain to maintain steady material flow
- Oversee material run-in and run-out for innovation, enterprise, and CapEx projects
- Collaborate with Project Managers to mitigate stock write-off risks
- Identify component shortages and evaluate impacts on site schedules
- Proactively escalate critical supply risks to the Materials Planning Manager
- Directly manage, coach, and set clear priorities for a Material Planner
- Support peer development across the wider planning function
- Evaluate supply chain workflows and propose process enhancements to boost efficiency and support business targets
Requirements
What you’ll need- Proven hands-on experience in material management and supply chain practices, utilising ERP operating systems
- Strong computer literacy with advanced spreadsheet management capabilities
- Demonstrated track record of managing supplier relationships and cross-functional communication at all organisational levels
- Direct line management or supervisory experience
- Commitment to coaching and developing direct reports
- Exceptional problem-solving and organisational skills
- Ability to prioritize dynamic workloads and manage risk effectively
- Project management experience, particularly around product lifecycle transitions and material run-in/run-out strategies
- Experience operating within a fast-paced manufacturing or site-based supply chain environment
- Background in driving continuous improvement initiatives across planning and inventory
