About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Grow Agilent's market share in chromatography, mass spectrometry, and related consumables and services across the territory
  • Meet or exceed assigned sales targets
  • Prospect proactively for new customers and opportunities, create demand, and penetrate competitive accounts
  • Build and sustain long-term relationships with researchers, faculty, lab managers, and procurement teams
  • Develop and execute an action- and target-based territory plan across academic and commercial accounts
  • Maintain satisfaction across the installed base
  • Respond to customer calls and emails within 24 hours
  • Provide accurate quotes within 24–48 hours
  • Partner with Product Specialists, Consumables and Supplies, Service, and One Agilent colleagues
  • Submit accurate monthly and quarterly sales forecasts
  • Maintain Salesforce CRM updates, expense reporting, and business reporting
  • Cover chemicals and energy, materials science, pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical, life science research, clinical, environmental, forensics, and food markets across Upstate New York

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, or another physical or life science discipline from an accredited university
  • 1+ years of relevant experience in scientific/laboratory work with analytical instrumentation (GC, LC, MS) or field sales and customer-facing work
  • Working understanding of chromatography, mass spectrometry, or related analytical workflows
  • Ability to manage complex sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders, funding sources, and procurement processes
  • Ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at every level, internally and externally
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and consultative selling skills
  • Strong self-management, organizational, territory planning, and time management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-selling environment and independently in a performance-driven setting
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
  • Preferred: 1+ years of sales experience in analytical instrumentation, laboratory technology, life sciences, or a related scientific market
  • Preferred: Experience selling into pharmaceutical, academic, university, government, or research laboratory environments
  • Preferred: Advanced technical knowledge of chromatography, mass spectrometry, or related analytical workflows
  • Preferred: Proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets and growing market share
