About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Architect and implement a Medallion (Bronze, Silver, Gold) lakehouse architecture in Microsoft Fabric
  • Design Delta Lake tables, partitioning strategies, and performance optimizations
  • Design and build ingestion pipelines from Deltek Vantagepoint, Power BI semantic models, project performance data, and financial/HRIS systems
  • Implement error handling, monitoring, validation, reconciliation, and data-quality controls
  • Design and build dimensional (Dim/Fact) models in the Silver/Gold layers
  • Define and implement CI/CD, version control, environment promotion, and release standards using the BI operating model and Azure DevOps backlog
  • Monitor and tune Fabric capacity usage, pipeline performance, and storage costs
  • Maintain technical documentation covering pipeline logic, table schemas, and source-to-Gold-layer lineage
  • Translate validated business requirements, KPI definitions, and source-data findings into platform design decisions
  • Work with the Director of Business Intelligence and KPI Governance Council to enforce agreed-upon metric definitions
  • Build the platform foundation for enterprise revenue and IT forecasting and future AI-assisted reporting and data Q&A
  • Complete assigned tasks and deliverables on time and on budget
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Lake, and Delta Lake, including Medallion (Bronze/Silver/Gold) architecture patterns
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing dimensional (Dim/Fact) data models for enterprise reporting
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with SQL Server, including reading and reverse-engineering complex, layered legacy views
  • Experience building and maintaining data ingestion pipelines from ERP, financial, or project-based systems
  • Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint or similar professional services ERP systems is a plus
  • Working knowledge of Power BI semantic models and DAX sufficient to collaborate effectively with BI/analytics stakeholders
  • Experience establishing deployment, version control, and release standards for data platforms, ideally using Azure DevOps
  • Ability to work independently from ambiguous or incomplete requirements, and to raise data quality or governance concerns proactively
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document technical decisions clearly for a non-engineering audience
  • Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technology and adapting to evolving requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or related discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering or data platform roles
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Lake, or comparable modern lakehouse platforms
  • Experience working on an enterprise data warehouse or BI modernization initiative
  • Up to 5% travel, potentially to any or all 50 US states
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States as applicable under the E-Verify program
