About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Define detailed technical solutions and manage technical delivery of the onshore and offshore data engineering team
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data engineering frameworks using Azure Databricks for data ingestion, curation, and transformation
  • Lead data migration from legacy on-premises data warehouse systems to Azure Databricks solutions
  • Perform data modelling, ETL automation, DevOps, data quality, data security, and performance optimization using Azure cloud best practices
  • Collaborate with business, analytics, IT teams, and vendors to align data engineering efforts with business priorities
  • Mentor and support data engineers and analysts in engineering best practices and Azure Databricks skills
  • Report to the Head of Data Platforms and Analytics

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Extensive previous data design-related experience, including hands-on data engineering and detailed design
  • Experience developing and implementing data engineering and architecture frameworks and processes using Databricks
  • Experience with data modelling and ETL process automation
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL
  • Experience with Azure cloud platform and data services such as ADF, ADLS, and SQL
  • Strong problem-solving skills for analyzing complex technical issues and proposing effective solutions
  • Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong leadership skills, including mentoring, coaching, and developing a high-performing data engineering team
  • Databricks certification highly regarded
  • Insurance industry engineering experience highly regarded
