About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide technical expertise in proactively directing and resolving Defense Based Act claims in accordance with best claim practice and AIG quality standards
  • Manage indemnity, medical, and legal aspects of assigned claims using available resources
  • Investigate, handle, litigate, and evaluate claims to ensure timely, cost-effective settlements and protect recovery rights when applicable
  • Provide prompt, effective customer service
  • Identify and review suspect or fraudulent claims in line with company guidelines
  • Maintain regular contact with internal stakeholders, brokers, medical experts, clients’ lawyers, injured workers, and legal representatives
  • Build effective relationships with internal and external customers and act as a point of referral
  • Apply claims experience to help improve products in collaboration with underwriting colleagues

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Knowledge of legal, regulatory, litigation, and procedural requirements for Workers Compensation claims
  • Specialist knowledge of Defense Base Act claims preferred
  • Experience in settlement evaluation and negotiation
  • Policy language skills enabling accurate and consistent policy wording interpretation
  • Lateral thinking and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to develop new ideas to improve working practices
  • Strong communication, time management, administrative, and report-writing skills
