About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide technical direction to management, underwriters, producers, and claims adjusting colleagues
- Accept, decline, or modify new and renewal submissions
- Identify exposures and analysis required to underwrite accounts and determine coverage policies
- Complete strategic account and portfolio reviews
- Manage a book of business and provide input to regional budgets and goals
- Establish new business production goals and submission flow
- Collaborate with North American Marine Leadership, Distribution, and other lines of business underwriters
- Develop and implement pricing and negotiation strategies, terms and conditions, and deal structures with brokers and clients
- Maintain risk quality and underwriting strategy
- Provide superior customer service to brokers and clients
- Represent AIG at client and broker meetings and functions
- Promote collaboration, innovation, diversity, and inclusion while attracting and developing talent
- Underwrite Cargo products under general direction and perform highly technical, complex assignments
- Handle large accounts, maintain strategic client and broker relationships, and develop new business submissions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum 7+ years of Commercial Insurance Company, Agency or Brokerage experience
- Advanced working knowledge of Marine Cargo line of business
- Technical understanding of Multinational and Captive Programs, including product features, forms, and associated risks
- Detail-oriented with critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
- Competent using analytical tools and technology
- Adaptable and comfortable with ambiguity, working at pace, and prioritizing multiple tasks
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Collaboration and relationship-building skills with colleagues and clients
- Strong financial understanding
- Appetite for learning about the industry
- Negotiation skills and focus on profitable outcomes
- Post-Secondary education
