About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Determine adherence to the AIG Underwriting Control Framework for Commercial Casualty and Programs across all legal entities
  • Review underwriting quality, pricing compliance, portfolio management utilization and management controls
  • Provide senior management with commentary on underwriting, profitable growth plans, legacy book controls and entity financial health
  • Leverage underwriting audits for capability assessments against Product strategic business plans
  • Gain exposure to other lines of business
  • Support the Global Head of Underwriting Audit with local industry knowledge and training initiatives
  • Support the Global Product team on project initiatives
  • Conduct annual audits across all legal entities and portfolios
  • Undertake pre-audit work and use audit tools
  • Discuss grades and findings in wrap-up meetings
  • Review critical findings and recommendations with audited entities and Country, Regional and Global Product teams
  • Prepare reports and vet action plans

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years industry experience with a P&C carrier of significant market size
  • 5+ years’ experience with a P&C carrier within the Product organization
  • Management positions in underwriting with P&L responsibility strongly preferable
  • Audit or Actuarial experience a strong plus
  • Proven experience underwriting a full range of products
  • Experience placing facultative reinsurance
  • Experience demonstrating management controls and utilizing portfolio management tools
  • Experience working with diverse distribution channels
  • Working experience in multiple regions/countries strongly plus
  • Ability to provide direction and convey strategy to Regional and Country staff
  • Excellent knowledge of product line underwriting guidelines, risk appetite, tools, processes, management controls and pricing methodologies
  • Ability to train underwriting knowledge to others
  • Working knowledge of regulator requirements
  • Working knowledge of the actuarial function, including reserving, DAC accounting, development of experience and statistical rating/rate reviews
  • Working knowledge of business analytics
