About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Underwrite property risks across the spectrum of E&S business
- Provide leadership, direction, and technical guidance to the team
- Maintain a balanced portfolio across primary and excess placements
- Make timely underwriting decisions and manage multiple opportunities simultaneously
- Drive execution across the team
- Partner with regional leadership and peers to shape strategy and foster a high-performing culture
- Underwrite risks to maintain and profitably grow the E&S portfolio across desired business segments
- Support team production goals
- Collaborate with internal colleagues and maintain relationships with wholesale trading partners
- Review and negotiate manuscript form wordings and coverages
- Lead, coach, mentor, and develop underwriters within the zone
- Assist with portfolio management, talent development, and regional business objectives
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of 5 years of Commercial E&S underwriting experience
- Ability to underwrite property risks across the spectrum of E&S business
- Ability to underwrite 100%, primary/shared and layered, and excess structures
- Established relationships within the territory's wholesale brokerage community
- Prior team leadership, coaching, or mentoring experience
- Demonstrated success developing underwriters and fostering collaboration
- Strong knowledge and understanding of CAT modeling, including OEP/AEP, TvAR, AAL, and Catastrophic Technical Premiums (TCPs)
- Clear understanding of ISO form usage
- Ability to influence, motivate, and drive results across a team while balancing underwriting discipline and growth objectives
