About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee financial accounting, including month-end close procedures, general ledger account analyses, journal entries, technical accounting research, and reporting
- Handle internal reporting requests related to Division, Regional branches, and Corporate
- Fulfill requests related to internal and external audit procedures
- Perform ad hoc analyses and special projects
- Build effective relationships with associates at all organizational levels
- Liaise with ALABS shared services, including accounts payable, cash applications, central billing, vendor chargebacks, general ledger accounting, and fixed asset functions
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of Division/Region financial statements and other information reported to internal and external users
- Supervise accurate financial and statistical close processes with ALABS, including general ledger reconciliations and analyses within established timelines
- Oversee significant sales, COS, and OPEX accruals not based on standard reports or calculations
- Address localized accounting topics, including real estate and personal property taxes
- Review and process ad hoc entries arising from month-end close
- Provide input and support to Airgas Financial Reporting on unusual items, Line 5 topics, and Line 9 topics
- Develop and direct preparation and communication of ad hoc accounting reports and analyses
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- Minimum of four years of financial reporting / financial accounting experience
- Minimum of three years of supervisor-level accounting and financial reporting experience in positions of increasing responsibility is a plus
- Public accounting experience and exposure to medium-to-large companies is a plus
- CPA and/or MBA in Finance/Accounting is a plus
- Solid leadership qualities including team management and people development skills
- Advanced experience with SAP software
- Skilled project management skills required
- Strong analytical and verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while supporting divisional, local, and corporate management and demands
