About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform service work on plasma, oxy/fuel cutting systems, and robots
  • Install, conduct preventative maintenance, troubleshoot onsite, and service equipment
  • Repair components and perform component upgrades
  • Collaborate to troubleshoot cutting systems, components, and robots
  • Service components at customer sites involving mechanical and electrical issues
  • Discuss and address technical issues, provide training, and solve complex challenges involving welding processes, automation motion devices, cutting systems, robotics software, and controllers
  • Test, calibrate, and run machines according to manufacturer specifications
  • Complete service documentation accurately and on time
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at Airgas and customer facilities
  • Attend two weeks of company-paid training per year
  • Build customer relationships and deliver shared success
  • Maintain accurate and timely expense reporting

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of three years of advanced automation service experience, or two years of mechanical repair experience and completion of the Airgas Automation Technician Apprenticeship program
  • Established track record or completion of the Airgas Apprenticeship program may possibly supersede educational requirements
  • Broad knowledge of welding, cutting, and fabrication processes, including manual, semi-automated, and automated welding processes
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret electrical schematics
  • Knowledge of welding and power equipment from many different suppliers
  • High School Diploma with Associate Degree Industrial Electronics/Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Technical School preferred
  • Ability to apply mathematical formulas to quantify process costs for analysis and comparisons
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to work safely and follow health and safety guidelines, including use of personal protective equipment
  • Ability to work flexibly with interrupted schedules, canceled appointments, and unfulfilled promises
