About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Drive and support sales of bulk products as a subject matter expert for internal and external customers
  • Execute regional bulk product marketing and sales growth plans through direct sales and collaboration with internal sales partners
  • Support branch and outside sales associates in selling bulk gases, systems, and on-site generators within a geographic territory
  • Develop and maintain relationships with branch, account, district, sales specialist, and technical service personnel
  • Coordinate customer bulk gas installation, removal, modification, site survey, and quote-request activities
  • Identify opportunities to sell bulk products and cross-sell Airgas products
  • Confirm technical project information including gas type, vessel size, volume, flow rate, pressure, duty cycle, USP requirements, telemetry, delivery constraints, and temporary supply needs
  • Manage relationships with larger bulk and on-site customers
  • Provide technical product and service recommendations, training, engineering support, and technical support
  • Evaluate customer bulk processes and recommend training for improvement and optimization
  • Collect market data on customer sales and service needs, trends, and competitor activities
  • Use sales and marketing literature to promote Airgas initiatives
  • Maintain and upgrade sales strategies and technical/product knowledge through training and research
  • Develop pricing and negotiation strategies, including bulk price increases and contract renewals
  • Complete sales paperwork, call reports, and month-end reports; respond to emails and phone calls promptly
  • Operate safely and promote safety among associates and customers
  • Perform special projects and other required duties

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or related field; up to 4 years of additional related experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • 4 years of prior bulk gas industry experience
  • 3 years of prior technical solution-driven sales experience within the bulk gas field preferred
  • Broad knowledge of bulk products and processes common to Airgas customers
  • Relationship management and consultative aptitude
  • Ability to problem-solve and devise technical customer solutions
  • Ability to build effective internal and external relationships
  • Strong mathematical, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Organizational, time-management, multitasking, and project-management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to use a computer, telephone, and motor vehicle
  • Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 60 pounds
  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods, including sitting in an automobile
  • Ability to traverse office and/or manufacturing locations
