About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist with installation, preventive maintenance, and repair of high-pressure cylinder piping systems, cryogenic tanks, dewar cylinders, vaporizers, and manifold equipment
  • Install and troubleshoot telemetry systems
  • Obtain brazing certification
  • Commission, install, and maintain cryogenic and high-pressure gas systems at customer and Airgas sites
  • Perform site surveys at prospective customer locations
  • Inspect and repair piping systems according to NFPA standards and manufacturers’ procedures
  • Service and maintain compressors, pumps, shop tools, and equipment
  • Identify and communicate service problems to the manager
  • Maintain inventory of required parts and tools
  • Handle hazardous materials safely
  • Install piping, final-line regulator systems, alarms, manifolds, and valves
  • Secure documentation and approvals for completed work
  • Submit service orders, estimates, and invoices for customer billing
  • Maintain customer service standards and update technical knowledge
  • Attend safety meetings and use PPE full time
  • Perform facility and office housekeeping
  • Travel overnight, work occasional mandatory overtime, and be on call weekends and holidays
  • Perform other reasonable qualified work requests

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 1–3 years of diagnostic and/or repair experience in cryogenics, high pressure piping, brazing, programmable controls, and/or process instrumentation
  • Prior experience with bulk gas delivery systems, pumps, or mechanical machinery
  • HVAC or plumbing industry experience with hands-on welding/brazing skills is a plus
  • Valid driver’s license and clean DMV report; may require DOT physical
  • Ability to understand piping and tank details from manuals, mechanical drawings, and/or P&IDs
  • Ability to understand and apply CGA, NFPA, NEC, and other applicable standards
  • Ability to safely use electrical and manual hand tools
  • Strong math skills and ability to calculate figures and units of measure
  • Ability to prioritize integrated service activities
  • Customer-service orientation and professional interaction with internal and external customers
  • Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as needed
  • Willingness to be away from home 3–5 days at a time for installations and certification schools
  • Initiative in problem-solving and troubleshooting
  • Ability to operate a forklift and scissor lift and maintain appropriate certifications
  • Ability to routinely lift 25–50 lbs and occasionally lift 51–80 lbs with material-handling equipment
  • Ability to work safely under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work with people of varied personalities and backgrounds
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment
  • Pre-employment and random drug testing and background screening
  • Valid U.S. employment authorization; must not require visa sponsorship now or in the future
  • Bachelor’s degree or technical degree preferred with related experience or equivalent combination of both
