About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Generate and maintain sales, gross profit growth, and new account activation through telephone outreach and customer engagement
  • Maintain and grow existing customer sales volume
  • Connect with prospective customers to gain new account business
  • Manage an active sales pipeline and customer portfolio
  • Cultivate customer relationships and support gross margin growth
  • Make outbound calls and receive inbound customer calls
  • Negotiate fair pricing while supporting Airgas value and growth
  • Use SAP to document sales quotes and orders
  • Use Salesforce.com to build customer profiles, manage opportunities, and document risks or lost business
  • Accommodate customer returns and credits and partner with the BSC Credit Department
  • Utilize e-market capabilities, airgas.com, marketing materials, and the Field Specialist Network
  • Collaborate with Regional Company District Managers, Store Personnel, field colleagues, and Sales Managers
  • Attend training, coaching, team meetings, and portfolio planning activities
  • Assist with welcoming, training, or mentoring peers as requested
  • Perform other position-related contributions as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Prior sales experience/customer service at Airgas
  • Strong self-motivation
  • Ability to interact well with others
  • Able to work well as a member of a team
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Occasional travel required
  • College degree preferred
  • Industrial distribution or knowledge of PPE, Welding and Gases preferred
