About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Forecast product deliveries, plan routes, and schedule trips to optimize operational efficiency and customer service
Lead distribution efficiency initiatives, including demand leveling and route optimization
Identify and execute continuous improvement opportunities in daily distribution operations
Review incoming orders for accuracy and special delivery requirements, communicating special needs to production teams
Monitor open order status for timely fulfillment and proper closure
Respond to delivery inquiries from sales, customer service, and branch personnel
Coordinate urgent and emergency delivery requests safely and efficiently
Process customer requests and maintain records on product specifications and replenishment schedules
Ensure scheduling operations adhere to Airgas Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Collaborate with production, distribution, and sales departments to ensure uninterrupted cylinder gas supply and delivery
Monitor and verify telemetry readings, tank levels, system data, and planned schedules
Adjust customer delivery schedules based on demand forecasts, inventory levels, and resource availability
Communicate daily routing and operational updates to drivers, customers, and service technicians
Resolve customer service issues and delivery challenges
Promote driver compliance with DOT regulations and safe site delivery practices
Perform additional operational duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Proficiency in Google Workspace applications and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in system data entry and auditing
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including active listening
Ability to prioritize tasks, meet strict deadlines, and escalate issues when appropriate
Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced dispatch environment
Adaptability to changing priorities and fast-moving schedule adjustments
Excellent organizational and time-management skills
Interpersonal skills to maintain professionalism and diplomacy in high-stress situations
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to identify discrepancies and resolve complex operational challenges promptly
Sound judgment and decision-making capabilities
Consistent follow-through and tracking capabilities
Preferred: minimum of 3 years of experience in an operational / management support role
Preferred experience in transportation and distribution, dispatching, and routing
Preferred experience coordinating maintenance on a commercial truck fleet
Preferred experience with remote monitoring software
Proficiency or quick learning aptitude for SAP order management and transportation modules
Working knowledge of DOT regulations governing commercial fleets
