About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Define technical direction and architecture for trading systems spanning multiple teams
Lead design of fault-tolerant, low-latency and secure services
Review critical designs from other teams
Set standards for correctness in financial flows, including accurate calculations, idempotency, reconciliation and audit trails
Plan for peak load and failure scenarios, and drive load testing and capacity planning
Identify technical risks, weigh trade-offs and drive decisions aligned with business and regulatory needs
Lead investigations and root cause analysis for complex production incidents
Drive lasting improvements in reliability, observability, security and performance
Partner with Engineering Managers, Product, Operations and Compliance on cross-team initiatives
Mentor Senior Engineers and grow technical leadership
Implement critical components and solve complex problems hands-on

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
8+ years of professional software engineering experience
Proven record of designing and running large-scale, high-traffic distributed systems
Experience leading technical work across teams
Highly proficient in Java, Go or another modern backend language
Strong expertise in microservices, event-driven architectures, reliability engineering, observability and performance optimization
Deep practical experience with Kafka, Redis, and relational and NoSQL databases, including query tuning and data consistency
Experience designing and operating applications on cloud platforms (GCP, AWS)
Background in capital markets, brokerage, payments or another high-scale, regulated environment
Strong communication and ability to influence technical decisions without direct authority
