About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Define technical direction and architecture for backend systems spanning several teams in the investor journey
- Lead design of scalable, fault-tolerant, and secure services
- Review critical designs from other teams
- Identify technical risks early, weigh trade-offs, and drive business-aligned decisions
- Lead investigations and root cause analysis for complex production incidents
- Drive lasting improvements and promote standards for reliability, observability, security, and performance
- Partner with Engineering Managers, Product, Ops, and Architecture on cross-team initiatives
- Mentor Senior Engineers and grow technical leadership across the team
- Implement critical components and solve complex problems hands-on
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Proven record of designing and running large-scale distributed systems
- Experience leading technical work across teams
- Highly proficient in Java and Go
- Strong expertise in microservices, event-driven architectures, reliability engineering, observability, and performance optimization
- Deep practical experience with Kafka, Redis, relational and NoSQL databases, including query tuning
- Experience designing and operating applications on cloud platforms, including GCP and AWS
- Background in fintech or another high-scale, regulated environment
- Strong communication and ability to influence technical decisions without direct authority
