About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Generate profitable sales of frozen food commodities such as poultry, pork, and beef for a geographical region while meeting sales plan metrics
Maintain and increase current customer accounts and develop new customers
Work closely with internal teams to find available inventory and execute customer shipments
Maintain customer accounts through communication via email, phone, and customer visits
Understand customer needs and build relationships with relevant parties
Manage sales metrics, goals, gross profit, tonnage, and inventory for assigned accounts
Consult global procurement teams to source products according to customer specifications
Develop regional business through market and customer research, cold calling, emailing, and reaching new markets
Make procurement purchases according to AJC policy
Communicate market trends and destination analysis to regional sales, procurement, and upper management teams
Monitor regional inventory levels to limit risk and meet demand
Examine customer specifications and support shipment scheduling, timing, contractual requirements, and specifications
Coordinate with Operations and Transportation teams to ensure timely delivery, lower costs, and improved service
Manage new customer setup and customer service
Manage customer sales portfolios within approved credit limits
Assist with collections in coordination with credit and accounting teams
Collaborate with credit to maintain current customer business, financial credentials, and key contact information
Support regional claims processing with the Corporate Risk and Insurance team by providing documentation, product details, contacts, issue summaries, and cost analysis
Ensure customers adhere to company policy to limit risk

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s Degree in Business or equivalent proven experience is required
3 to 5 years of successful international commodity sales, international food trade, food service, and/or distribution and/or domestic sales experience
Proven history of developing customer or vendor market share
Transportation, claims, credit, and operation procedures knowledge is a plus
Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently
