About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build a shared insurance Core Stack across countries, replacing country-by-country code
- Make architecture decisions shaping how Alan sells insurance for the next 10 years
- Build AI-native underwriting capabilities, including AI-assisted alternatives, price explanations, and pitching
- Bring Life & Disability insurance to the maturity level of Health insurance
- Hire and shape the growing engineering team, owning talent density, onboarding, feedback, and skill mix
- Set technical direction, architecture calls, quality standards, organizational processes, and incident response
- Remain hands-on by reviewing and shipping code
- Partner with product functions, shape the roadmap, identify trade-offs, and align delivery commitments
- Mentor engineers and future leaders while driving technical strategy
- Build scalable software for regulated insurance operations, pricing, contract lifecycle, and Sales tooling
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3+ years leading engineering teams, with a track record of building high performers
- Experience establishing engineering excellence standards and guiding architectural decisions
- First-hand experience shipping AI or LLM products to production is a big plus
- Eager to keep writing code; review code and ship some personally
- Comfortable with modern development practices and AI-assisted development tools
- Curious, self-starting, humble, collaborative, and eager to grow
- Develop people as much as products

- Understand that great engineering teams are built on psychological safety and continuous learning
- Legally able to work from France for any employer
- Fluent in English
